The Church Tour we had was a really was a spiritual experience. The church tours we do are when we bring members or investigators to the Church and show them what goes on. It's a lower-pressure setting for members to invite their friends and family to learn more, and they are also able to feel the Spirit there in the chapel during the tour.
We had a tour with someone named Leonor, and she came with her slightly less-active daughter, Karla. At the end of the tour, she started to cry (Leonor) and said she really wanted to get baptized, but she's living with someone. She knows that she shouldn't be. Elder Rodriguez was very bold, and invited her to move out. She said she needed to talk to him about it, because baptism is something that she wants. Overall, a very powerful lesson and a very good experience! I'm very grateful for this opportunity that I have to serve with and continue learning from Elder Rodriguez. I've already learned a lot, and with his help, I'm looking forward to improving my Spanish as well.
Studies have also been improving as well. Elder Rodriguez brought up some of his studies, and how much he is learning, and I realized that I haven't been the most diligent in my own studies. So I picked up again on the topic of light, especially since I've been finding it in so many places throughout the Book of Mormon and New Testament. Light is not just something that comes from the sun. From what I understand, light is knowledge - but not just a knowledge of things we learn through books and study. When we receive more light, the Spirit testifies to us of its truthfulness, and we actually receive it. I've thought about how many times I have heard people talk about the, "light in [our] eyes," and how it's probably from living in such a way that we can receive instruction from the Holy Ghost and then really take it to heart. As we try to understand and grow in knowledge, and as the Spirit testifies to us that the things which we are learning are true (because there have also been those times where I have studied and thought on something, and then received a really bad feeling, testifying that either it's not true - what I was thinking - or that it's not something I should study at that time), we gain more light, and that light, "groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day."
I've also discovered that the Sacrament is a very important part of sanctification and becoming a child of Christ, but I need to study it more to understand it better.
Well, that's how things have been going here! I already told you about that drunk member that we took with us to our dinner appointment, right? The one who I couldn't understand, because he was using all these swear words that I hand never really thought to learn about? Haha THAT was interesting, but even better than that was the food! I had something called pupusas for the first time, and they were really great! Kind of like meat and cheese cooked into a tortilla...Mmm, Mmm, good!
Well, I'm going to get going, so that I can put a few pictures on here!
I love you! Con MUCHO amor, a infinidad, y mas alla!
